The city has attracted top global talent from around the world, so landing a strong role takes time, persistence and a bit of luck.Dubai is also a very niche market. Many companies strongly prefer candidates who already understand the local business culture and know how to navigate the UAE market.Spending real time researching your specific industry — how things actually work here, local regulations, key players, cultural nuances — can make a massive difference. When you demonstrate that knowledge in your CV or during interviews, it often becomes the deciding factor between getting the offer or not.The recruitment process is notoriously slow — it is very common for the entire journey from your first interview to actually moving to Dubai to take 6–12 months. In our own experience it took a full 10 months from the first interview to the day we landed (though it’s not always this long).Once you do secure a position, expect high performance pressure and significantly longer working hours than in most other countries. Many long-term expats say professionals here often work much harder just to keep up with the pace and demands of the job.We’re sharing the real picture — not to discourage you, but so you can prepare properly, set realistic expectations, and dramatically increase your chances of success.

Profession Salary Checker & Reality Check (2026)Here are realistic tax-free salary ranges for popular roles. These numbers change quickly — always verify current listings.
Nurse → AED 5,000 – 15,000/month. Market heavily dominated by South-East Asia nationalities. Many Western-trained nurses find the net pay lower than expected after living costs.
Teacher (British/IB curriculum) → AED 12,000 – 25,000/month. Strong demand especially in Outstanding-rated schools.
IT / Software Engineer → AED 15,000 – 35,000+/month. Very good demand in free zones.
Finance / Accountant → AED 12,000 – 30,000/month. Competitive but solid for qualified professionals.

Building a strong pipeline and closing your first sales can take several months. It is highly recommended to have at least 6 months of living expenses saved before moving to Dubai for a real estate role.
